Start checklist

For Admins, Editors, agencies and tracking providers 2 minutes Updated November 2026

The start checklist shows whether a campaign is fully prepared. It appears on the campaign overview as Ready to start: x of y done. Only when everything is done can you set the campaign to Ready to start with Mark as ready. After that you can Start it.

The four items

  1. Briefing, period and responsible person: Goal, Start date, End date, Channels, Websites and Responsible person are filled in. If something is missing, the list names it.
  2. At least one KPI target: There is at least one KPI with a target value.
  3. All links checked: The latest check of every draft or Active link is Passed or has a Warning. A link whose check is Failed or Check not possible counts once the problem has been acknowledged with a reason. Ended links do not count.
  4. All tracking requests are ready: No request of the campaign is still Requested, In progress or To test. Rejected requests do not block the start.

Step by step

  1. Open the campaign and look at Ready to start. Open items are listed with the reason.
  2. Fill in missing details with Complete briefing or Edit campaign.
  3. Check the links in the tab Links. If a check fails, fix the problem on the target page and choose Check now. Or choose Acknowledge failure and give a reason (10 to 300 characters) why the link may stay as it is.
  4. The tracking team or, after the test, the requesting side brings open requests in the tab Tracking to Ready. This needs a test description and at least one linked entry from the tracking inventory.
  5. When everything is done, choose Mark as ready.

Example

The autumn promotion of Lindenholz Küchen shows "Ready to start: 3 of 4 done". Open is the request "Measure contact form as goal", which Messbar Analytics still has on To test. After the test the tracking team or the requesting side sets it to Ready, and the list is complete.

An Admin can mark a campaign as ready to start despite open items. They must give a reason of 10 to 300 characters. Everyone who can see the campaign can read this reason.

A campaign without links counts as done for "links checked". Create the links before the start anyway, otherwise there is nothing to measure.
