The key terms you will meet in Feinwerk Campaigns and in the handbook.
- Arrival check
- The check whether a documented Matomo goal or event actually produces hits in Matomo. It reveals when something was entered but never arrives.
- Channel
- The group in which reports summarize campaigns, for example e-mail, print or paid search. Every medium of the naming convention belongs to a channel.
- Dynamic QR code Coming soon
- A QR code that points to a short link. The destination can be changed later without replacing the printed code.
- Link ID
- The identifier the platform gives every new tracking link (shown as Code in the interface). It travels as the utm_id parameter so that results can be assigned to exactly one link, even if names differ later.
- mtm_* parameters
- The campaign parameters of Matomo, for example mtm_campaign and mtm_source. They serve the same purpose as the utm_* parameters but are specific to Matomo.
- Naming convention
- The rules by which all teams and agencies name source, medium, campaign and content. The platform checks every value against these rules before a link is created.
- Ready to start
- A campaign is ready to start when briefing and target are filled in, its links have been checked and its tracking requests are ready. An Admin can mark it as ready despite open items, with a reason.
- Tracking request
- A request to the tracking team: what should be measured for which campaign and website? Every request has a status (Requested, In progress, To test, Ready or Rejected). While a request is open, the campaign cannot become ready to start.
- Short link Coming soon
- A short address that forwards to the actual tracking link. It is easier to print and share and serves as the destination for dynamic QR codes.
- Static QR code Live
- A QR code that contains the address directly. It needs no short link, but cannot be switched to another destination afterwards.
- Tracking inventory
- The list of all Matomo goals, events and third-party tags of a website, with purpose, consent category and requester.
- utm_* parameters
- The parameters on an address that reveal where a visit comes from: utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term and utm_id. The platform assembles them according to your naming convention.
- Workspace
- The separate area in which your company keeps campaigns, links, naming convention and tracking documentation. It contains your websites, campaigns and the roles of your team.
